Registering as an auditor or authorised audit company



This section outlines how to register as an individual or authorised audit company.


Before you start your application


Before you start, you should read our Regulatory Guide 180 Auditor registration.

RG 180 includes:
These explain what information you will need to give ASIC for registration, what documentary proof you'll need to support your application and the application process. They also tell you about the conditions we may impose on your registration.

Ways you can register as an auditor or authorised audit company


You can apply for registration online or by lodging a paper form. Applying online may prove better for you because: If you choose to apply online, you will need to send separately to us the hard copies of any required documents or other proofs, as well as a signed hard copy of your application.


Terms and conditions of using the online service


If you decide to use our online service to register you must read and agree to the terms and conditions in our Electronic Lodgement Protocol.


What if you can't apply online?


You can complete and send in a paper form. To do this, either:

If you apply online, the online application will tell you your options and the steps to take to pay fee. If you apply using a paper form, you will need to attach a cheque to your application and proofs.

Fees for company auditors
Online application: $159
Paper lodgment: $351

Fees for authorised audit companies
Online application: $287
Paper lodgment: $575

We won’t start processing your application until your fee payment and proofs have been received.

Incomplete applications
Before lodging your application you MUST ensure that you have compiled all the required documentation. Your application won’t accepted for lodgment if it is incomplete. If your application is incomplete then we will contact you and ask you to provide the necessary information. If you don’t provide this information then your application may be refused or you may be permitted to withdraw the application in some cases.


We may place conditions on your registration


The Corporations Regulations allow us to impose conditions on your registration as an individual auditor or authorised audit company. For more information about these conditions read [PF 215] Company auditor registration conditions or [PF 216] Authorised audit company registration conditions.
