How to renew your business name

To renew your business name quickly and easily, we recommend our 'Pay now' service. We'll send you a reminder notice by email 30 days before your renewal is due.

If you don't renew your business name on time, ASIC may cancel it. Find out more about ASIC initiated cancellation of a business name

Before you start you will need your business name renewal notice. It is sent 30 days before your renewal is due.
 
If you have updated your email address with ASIC, we will email your renewal notice to you. If we do not have an email address then we will send the renewal notice to the address for service or principal place of business for the business name.

Renew your name

There are two options available to renew your business name.

Renew your business name using 'Pay now'

'Pay now' is a streamlined payment process that allows you to renew in a few simple steps.

All you need is your account number (as shown on your renewal notice) or your Australian Business Number (ABN) (if listed on the Business Names Register).

You can choose to pay by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) or pay later by invoice (BPAY and Australia Post).

To renew your business name using Pay now, follow the below steps.

Select the Pay now - business name renewal link on the right hand side of this screen

This will take you to our secure online payment service.

Enter your account number or ABN

You can find your account number on your renewal notice.

Select your business name

Select the business name you wish to renew from the list of results.

Select your renewal period (one or three years) and provide your email address (if required)

You can renew your business name for either one year ($35) or three years ($82).

Review your transaction and make declarations

Check that the information displayed is correct and declare you are authorised to renew the business name.

Make payment

You can choose to pay your renewal fee using a credit card, BPAY or alternatively you can request an invoice.

Confirmation

This will confirm your renewal has been submitted with ASIC.

Renew your business name using ASIC Connect

ASIC Connect is our online system used to manage your business name.

You will need an ASIC Connect account to renew your business name.

If using ASIC Connect to update and renew your business name, you should review your business name details first before completing your renewal.

You can choose to pay by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) using our secure online payment service, or pay later by invoice (BPAY and Australia Post).

To renew your business name using ASIC Connect:

Go to

and log in to your account

When you log in for the first time, you will be prompted to add any existing business names to your account.

If you need to add another business name to your account, see Linking a business name to your account.

Select the

Lodgements & Notifications

tab at the top of the screen then select your business name

This will display all business names linked to your account. Select the radio button to the left of the business name to select it.

In the transaction column, select

Renew business name

and then select

Go

This will start the transaction.

Choose your renewal period (one or three years)

You can renew your business name for either one year ($35) or three years ($82).

Review your transaction

Check that the information displayed is correct.

Make declarations

Read the declaration to ensure you agree with the conditions of the transaction.

Make payment

You can choose to pay your registration fee using a credit card, BPAY or alternatively you can request an invoice.

Confirmation

This will confirm your transaction has been submitted with ASIC.


What happens when I have renewed my business name?

We will:

  • update the Business Name Register with your next renewal date

  • email you confirmation of your renewal and a record of registration (if your email address has been provided).
